Encouraged by the generosity of friends and family, Rebecca and Alain decided to make the “El Paraiso Triathlon” an annual event, with their next goal - A Hydrotherapy Pool, like the one that they had visited during one of their many fact-finding trips. To raise the money for this mammoth project a fund raising campaign began.
Alain ran not only the London Marathon but competed in half marathons all over Andalusia. Rebecca cycled 180 kilometres with her family in the UK. Also raising money, her brother ran the London and Stockholm marathons, her best friend and godmother to Elliot’s elder brother, competed in the London Triathlon. Her 9-year-old niece ran the Stockholm mini marathon!
Word of the fund raising soon spread throughout the local community and enough money was raised over the next few years to build this specialised state of the art pool at APRONA - unique in the Malaga region.
The Elliot George Hydrotherapy Pool, costing 297,332,89 euros
By an unfortunate stroke of nature Rebecca, Alain and their family were thrown into a world that, yes, they knew existed but never really paid much attention to. Children like Elliot, through no fault of their own will never be as fortunate as others, which is why, in May 2004, Elliot’s parents and godparents established The Elliot George Foundation.
