Our Journey

Elliot’s parents decided that the only way to help him further was to search for, and try, any new kind of therapy available, medically acknowledged or not.  They soon realised they would have to look further a field than Andalusia.  They were very fortunate that their family and friends were able to give them the financial and emotional support to do this. Consequently, they have travelled the length and breadth of Europe with Elliot, and searched worldwide, to experience first hand the most advanced treatments, equipment and therapies available.

During a trip to England with Elliot shortly after his diagnosis, they visited a special needs school where they were amazed to see a Snoezelen Room.  They soon discovered that these multi-sensorial therapy rooms were commonplace in the UK and other countries, having enormous benefits for the children.
They wanted one for APRONA.

Alain, being a keen sportsman, had challenged a colleague to a friendly race, so, when someone suggested that they should use this opportunity to raise money to fund the room they didn’t hesitate.  The course was set, sponsor forms sent out and 2 weeks later in October 2000 the first “El Paraiso Triathlon” was held.  Six other friends joined in and during this fun day an amazing 9,000 euros was raised.  APRONA now had the money to equip this specialised room.

Multi-Sensory Light Room

The Multi-Sensorial Therapy Room

Fully completed in 2000 and the only one of it’s kind in Andalucía this room is equipped with lights, soft cushions and music.

It is very important helping children with their sensory and emotional development, along with tactile, audio and visual stimuli.
